Permanent Closure Of Two Traffic Light Intersections On Jalan Ampang Starts Today - DBKL
KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- The traffic light intersection in front of the Royal Thai Embassy and Lorong Ampang 2 on Jalan Ampang will be permanently closed starting today to make way for the Jalan Ampang upgrade project.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in a statement today said that the closure is part of the 3.2-kilometre Jalan Ampang upgrade project, starting from the Jalan Tun Razak intersection to the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).
It said the project aims to improve the efficiency of the road network, user safety, and smooth the flow of traffic on the main corridor.
“This project involves the provision of more systematic infrastructure, including the construction of road dividers, two-way four-lane roads, more comfortable and safe pedestrian walkways, and improvements to street lighting facilities.
“The construction of the road divider and the closure of the traffic light intersection are also expected to reduce traffic weaving conflicts, reduce delays at intersections, and improve the smooth flow of traffic along Jalan Ampang,” the statement said.
To reduce the impact of the closure, DBKL has provided an alternative route where road users can make a U-turn at Jalan Tun Razak towards Ampang, while for travel towards the city centre, a U-turn can be made at Jalan Ampang Hilir.
The public is also advised to obey the traffic signs provided to ensure a smooth journey and avoid any inconvenience.
