Johor Polls: PH Fields Onn Abu Bakar To Reclaim Senggarang Seat
BATU PAHAT, June 27 (Bernama) -- Batu Pahat MP Onn Abu Bakar of Pakatan Harapan (PH) faces a three-cornered fight in the party’s bid to reclaim the Senggarang seat in the 16th Johor state election.
He is facing former Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and incumbent Mohd Yusla Ismail of Barisan Nasional (BN).
Their candidacies were announced by returning officer Ahmad Azhar Ab Hamid at the nomination centre at the Advanced Technology Training Centre here today.
PH leaders and members, including PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar, accompanied Onn to the nomination centre.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for July 11, with early voting on July 7.
According to EC statistics, the Johor election involves 2,727,926 registered voters, comprising 2,703,175 ordinary voters, 12,041 military personnel and spouses, and 12,710 police personnel and spouses.
