PH, BN, PN In Three-Cornered Fight For Semerah
BATU PAHAT, June 27 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are set to go head-to-head for the Semerah state seat in the 16th Johor state election.
Incumbent Fared Khalid from BN will face a three-cornered fight with Halim Kepol (PN) and Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar (PH).
Election returning officer Nazid Jasiman announced the contest at the nomination centre at Dewan Seri Mahkota, Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Batu Pahat here, after the nomination process closed at 10 am.
The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for July 11, following the dissolution of the state assembly on June 1.
Meanwhile, the Bukit Kepong state constituency is set for another three-cornered clash between candidates from PN, BN, and PH.
The incumbent, Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, who is also a former Johor Menteri Besar and PN Johor chairman, is seeking to defend the seat against BN's Ahmad Syar’e Yusoh and PH's C. Subramani.
The candidate list for the Bukit Kepong seat was announced by election returning officer Norhisham Said at the nomination centre at Dewan Kompleks Sukan Pagoh.
