JAKARTA, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- Malaysians remained the largest group of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in July 2026, accounting for 15 per cent of the 1.53 million arrivals recorded during the month, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Ateng Hartono said about 228,710 Malaysian tourists visited Indonesia in July, ahead of Australians at 188,250, or 12.34 per cent, and Chinese nationals at 156,750, or 10.28 per cent.

“Month-on-month, foreign tourist arrivals increased among Australian and Chinese passport holders, while those holding Malaysian passports declined.

“On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, however, foreign tourist arrivals increased among Malaysian, Australian and Chinese passport holders,” he said during a press conference streamed live on Tuesday.

Data presented at the press conference showed that Malaysian arrivals rose 7.83 per cent YoY despite falling 11.59 per cent from June.

Ateng said Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport was the main entry point for foreign tourists, receiving 697,800 arrivals in July, with Australians accounting for the largest share.
