National Dancesport Team Eye Two Golds At Sea Adult Female Solo Latin Championship
SHAH ALAM, July 22 (Bernama) -- The national team will be gunning for two gold medals at the Southeast Asian Adult Female Solo Latin Championship, held in conjunction with the 5th World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Malaysia Open DanceSport Championship this weekend.
National head coach Chuah Zjen Fong said the team is also targeting at least a podium finish at the Asian Adult 10 Dance Championship, which will also be held on Saturday.
Chuah, also the Malaysia DanceSport Federation vice-president, said they are targeting a podium finish for the 10 Dance event without placing excessive pressure on the athletes, although Malaysia is determined to emerge as the best team among the competing Southeast Asian nations.
"For the Southeast Asian Adult Female Solo Latin Championship, we are targeting the gold medals because we will be hosting the 2027 SEA Games,” he told a media conference at a leading hotel in i-City here today.
Chuah said the July 23-26 championship will also feature 25 other world ranking events, involving various age categories.
He said the federation will bring in a foreign coach to help the team prepare for the 2027 SEA Games, in addition to sending them for intensive training overseas to gain exposure.
He believes that the national team can continue to excel at the 2027 SEA Games, having captured the gold at the 2019 Philippines and 2023 Cambodia editions.
