Anwar's Poetic Post On Friendship And Unity Sparks Online Attention
KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today shared a poetic message on the importance of unity, discipline and solidarity, posting a four-line Malay pantun that underscores the value of friendship and consensus.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Anwar wrote:
Burung merbah terbang sekawan,
Guruh berdentum membelah awan,
Berbeza langkah, jangan putus kawan,
Selagi muafakat, kita sehaluan.
The post was accompanied by the evergreen 1980s hit Madu dan Racun, lending added resonance to the message.
Anwar also shared photographs from a Cabinet meeting attended by, among others, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Transport Minister Anthony Loke, all of whom appeared relaxed and in good spirits.
The post comes as public attention remains focused on the relationship between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), which are contesting the Negeri Sembilan state election despite being partners in the Federal Unity Government.
While the two coalitions are competing vigorously on the campaign trail, the post has been widely interpreted as a reminder of the importance of preserving the stability and cohesion of the Federal Government.
In the Negeri Sembilan election, PH, chaired by Anwar, is contesting all 36 state seats, while BN, led by Ahmad Zahid, is fielding candidates in 25 constituencies besides forging a pact with Perikatan Nasional (PN).
The Negeri Sembilan State Assembly was dissolved on June 5, and the Election Commission (EC) has set July 28 for early voting and Aug 1 for polling.
Anwar’s post drew an enthusiastic response online, attracting more than 11,500 likes within two hours of being published.
The comments section was also flooded with more than 1,700 responses, with some users even replying in pantun, while many praised the Prime Minister's conciliatory tone and statesmanship.
