QSR Brands, Yayasan JCorp Produce 37 Skilled Graduates Via ADI Programme

JOHOR BAHRU, July 10 (Bernama) -- QSR Brands, through KFC Malaysia and in collaboration with Yayasan JCorp, continues to play its role in developing the future workforce by producing another 37 skilled graduates through the Academy in Industry (ADI) programme.

In a statement, QSR Brands said the initiative reflects KFC Malaysia's commitment to providing meaningful career pathways for youths by combining education with hands-on industry experience, enabling students to acquire practical skills before entering the workforce.

Ministry of Education Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) director Zulkernai Fauzi said the ADI programme serves as an excellent benchmark for integration between the industry and education sectors and should be expanded further.

"Students obtain recognised certifications while gaining real-world work experience. That is the direction we are working towards for technical and vocational education in Malaysia.

"This latest cohort of graduates builds on the success of the inaugural intake involving 23 students who completed their industrial training in March 2025. With this, the total number of ADI graduates trained by KFC Malaysia has now risen to 60," he said.

Meanwhile, Yayasan JCorp chairman Rozaini Mohd Sani said participation in the ADI programme opens up opportunities for young people, regardless of their background, to build self-confidence and acquire practical skills for a brighter future.

"The continuous support from strategic partners such as QSR Brands reflects a shared commitment to developing Malaysia's future workforce," he said.

Meanwhile, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd chief human resources officer Dr Sharifah Musainah Syed Alwi said the success of Cohort 2 demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme in producing a skilled workforce.

"It is not merely about presenting certificates but about recognising students who have undergone training in actual restaurant environments, managed operations and mastered industry-recognised skills," she said.

QSR Brands said all students in the cohort underwent training at KFC restaurants in Johor Bahru based on the vocational syllabus for Fast Food Preparation and Service.

They were also exposed to restaurant operations, customer service, food preparation and compliance with workplace standards, enabling them to acquire industry-relevant competencies in preparation for employment.

The cohort also recorded excellent results, with a 100 per cent pass rate in Vocational Stream Subjects (MPAK) as well as the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 2 and Level 3, while 95 per cent of the students passed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, according to QSR Brands.

Each graduate received five qualifications, namely the Vocational Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPMV), SKM Level 2, SKM Level 3, a Programme Completion Certificate and a Certificate of Appreciation from QSR Brands.

The Cohort 2 graduation ceremony also recognised outstanding student achievements through the presentation of the Best Apprentice Award (Industry Category), Best Apprentice Award (SPM Category) and Best Apprenticeship Documentation Award.

The ADI programme, introduced in June 2023, is the first initiative in the country's quick-service restaurant sector to result from a strategic collaboration between KFC Malaysia, the Department of Skills Development under the Ministry of Human Resources, and the Ministry of Education.
