Fahmi Congratulates Youth Bowlers On Historic World Title Triumph
KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has congratulated Malaysia's youth bowling team after ending the country's 20-year wait for the girls' doubles title at the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Youth Championships in Kuching, Sarawak today.
In a Facebook post, Fahmi praised Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee and Adania Mohd Redzwan for securing Malaysia's second world girls' doubles crown.
“Congratulations, our young national heroes. Well done, champions! We are proud of you,” he said.
The Malaysian pair defeated the United States' Erin Klemencic and Elizabeth Teuber 2-0 (244-181, 207-201) in the final at Megalanes Sarawak.
The victory saw Adelia and Adania emulate Esther Cheah and Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi, who won Malaysia's first girls' doubles world title at the 2006 edition in Berlin, Germany.
Fahmi also congratulated the national team for winning another gold medal in the mixed team event, with Adelia and Adania joined by Aiman Syahin and Ethan Damien.
Earlier, Adelia and Adania also helped the Malaysian women's team secure the bronze medal in the team event.
