Digital Training, Better Internet Boost Potential Of Kampung Istana
BATU PAHAT, July 5 (Bernama) -- Residents of Kampung Istana in the Penggaram state constituency welcome the Communications Ministry’s initiative to develop the village’s ecotourism potential through digital marketing training and improved internet connectivity.
Kampung Istana Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairman Abd Jalil Ali said the initiative is very meaningful for the village’s 1,300 residents, particularly in efforts to generate the local community’s economy.
He said although Kampung Istana is located in the heart of Batu Pahat town, it has retained its identity as a traditional village since its establishment in the 1910s, and has unique attractions due to its proximity to recreational areas such as Bukit Banang and Bukit Soga.
“We are very excited that Kampung Istana has been selected as the Communications Ministry’s MADANI adopted village this year. With support in digital marketing training, better internet access and upgraded facilities, we hope the village can be better known as a potential ecotourism destination.
“Residents here can also learn how to promote the village’s products, activities and uniqueness through digital platforms, thereby helping to increase community income,” he said when met by Bernama at Communication Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil’s meet-and-greet session with Kampung Istana residents yesterday.
Earlier, Fahmi said Kampung Istana has the potential to be developed as an ecotourism destination with support from digital marketing training for local entrepreneurs and improved internet access to help generate the local economy.
Abd Jalil said the selection of Kampung Istana as a MADANI adopted village has directly benefited residents, with several public facilities, including the village community hall, having been upgraded.
He said the community hall has been upgraded with better facilities, including toilets, storage space, a stronger building structure, as well as upgraded external works and modern finishing.
In addition to upgrading the community hall, the adopted village programme has also created opportunities for the local community to carry out more social, welfare and development activities, he added.
Meanwhile, Persatuan Muafakat Belia Kampung Istana chairman Mohamad Afnan Amran said young people also welcomed the government’s efforts to improve public facilities and internet access in the village.
He said better internet connectivity is crucial to enable youth to take advantage of digital economic opportunities without having to leave their hometown.
“Young people here need better space and facilities. If the internet is more stable and there is digital marketing training, we can help promote the village, local products and community activities to outsiders,” he said.
