PAS Calls For Jho Low To Be Tried In Malaysia

KOTA BHARU, July 4 (Bernama) -- Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, widely known as Jho Low, should be brought before a court in Malaysia to face charges related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, regardless of any action taken by other countries.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said that Malaysia has its own legal system and is not necessarily required to follow the decisions or position of the United States regarding the case involving Jho Low.

“Jho Low must be brought back to stand trial in Malaysia because this country has been the party most affected by his actions, which have had a major impact on the economy,” he told reporters after officiating the Pasir Mas PAS division annual general meeting here today.

He also expressed hope that the authorities would expedite the legal process, including securing Jho Low’s extradition, to enable him to be tried in Malaysia.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that Malaysia remains committed to pursuing legal proceedings against Jho Low, despite reports suggesting that the fugitive businessman may receive a pardon from United States President Donald Trump.

Earlier, international media reported that Jho Low was among approximately 250 individuals being considered for a pardon by Trump in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Independence Day, which is being celebrated today.
