Shah Alam PKNS Complex Resumes Operations After Meeting Safety Requirements

SHAH ALAM, July 3 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has confirmed that the Shah Alam PKNS Complex resumed normal operations today after all required procedures and safety measures were met following a fire at the premises yesterday afternoon.

PKNS said it had taken swift action in accordance with established operating procedures to ensure the safety of visitors, tenants and employees, with a preliminary inspection by the building's facility management team revealing that the fire is believed to have originated from the Air Cooled Package Unit (ACPU) panel located inside the Air Handling Unit (AHU) room on the building's first floor.

“The incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the electricity supply and air-conditioning system in the affected area as a safety precaution.

“Following the incident, the complex management activated its emergency procedures by ordering the evacuation of Phase 1 of the building through the public address system,” PKNS said in a statement today.

PKNS also said the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department managed to bring the fire under control within a short period, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.

The Fire Department is still investigating the exact cause of the fire, it added.

Yesterday, Selangor JBPM Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar confirmed that the fire at the complex had been successfully contained and that no casualties were reported.
