Media Members Among 208 Players Vying For Mazda Trophy 2026
SHAH ALAM, June 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 208 amateur golfers - comprising 188 club members and 20 players representing sponsors, guests, and media - battled it out at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club here today to vie for the 2026 Mazda Trophy, which enters its fifth edition this year.
The annual event was divided into two categories, namely guests and Glenmarie club members, who played on the Valley course and the Garden course.
Most players, especially the guests, were pleased and satisfied to play at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, which is well-known for its excellent fairways and smooth greens, featuring speeds of 10.3 stimpmetres on the Valley course and 11 stimpmetres on the Garden course.
There were five categories contested: the Gross and Nett categories, as well as Medal A, B, C, and the Ladies' category.
In addition to these, Mazda also offered a Mazda car as a prize for any player who successfully hits a 'Hole-In-One', alongside other novelty prizes.
The Gross champion title this time went to 0-handicap player, Muhammad Hafizullah Moithu Kutty, with a score of 73 strokes, while second place was won by 6-handicap player, Alias Anuar (74 strokes), and third place went to 8-handicap player, Ahmad Suhaimi Yaacob (75 strokes).
For the Nett category, Chua Yong Hua (16 handicap) was crowned champion after securing 44 points with 64 strokes. Meanwhile, Ir Abi Sufyan Zaiunudin clinched the Medal A champion title by collecting 41 points with 67 strokes, followed by 12-handicap player, Abdul Razak Hashim, with 39 points (69 strokes) in second place, and 11-handicap player, Datuk Hazman Ahmad, who collected 38 points with 70 strokes (OCB) in third place.
The champion's trophy for Medal B was clinched by MJ Logaa (Hcp 16), after successfully securing 43 points with 65 strokes. Second place went to 18-handicap player, Mohamed Shukry Ramli (67 strokes OCB), followed by 17-handicap player, Mohd. Azman Mohd. Yakim (67 strokes).
The Medal C throne was seized by 21-handicap player, Datuk Jamil Osman, with 39 points after recording 69 strokes, followed by 20-handicap player, Lim Boon Swee (38 points, 71 strokes OCB) in second place, and Tan Heng Chuan, playing with a 20 handicap, in third place (38 points, 71 strokes).
As for the Ladies' category, it was won by Lim Si Ying with 40 points after recording 68 strokes, defeating Mastura Aseli (second place) and Datin Seri Norhidayah Azmi (third place).
Meanwhile, Bernama representative Jaiarajo Letchumanan won second place overall in the guests, sponsors, and media representatives category with 37 points and a score of 84 gross.
He won AEON cash vouchers worth RM500 as well as a certificate to participate in a personal wellness programme.
